【Industry】On Web Tension Control Unit of Winding Machines 03

Tension controls application on different units


In the previous article, we talk about the major units that need tension control unit and the basic principles for tension control. In today's post, we will further discuss the different requirements for these units and the tension control plans available.

 

Still with the formula:  ,we shall now see how it works with different units:


1. Unwinding unit:


In center unwinding, the active roller is the unwinding roller itself. As we unwind the material roll, the R in the formula is getting smaller. So we need to decrease the torque to maintain a constant tension.


As in the case of surface unwinding however, the material roll is passively moved along with the unwinding rollers through friction, so the R is the diameter of ther unwinding roller, which remains constant. In surface unwinding, the tension only need to retain unchanged for constant tension.


2. Rewinding unit:


In center rewinding ,the rewinding roller is the active and the R increases as the material is being rewinded. To maintain constant tension, we need to increase the torque.


In surface rewinding, the active roller is the rewinding roller whose R reamins the same. As a result, the torque can be just the same for constant tension.



 3.Point to point:


In point to point case, the R remains the same and so is the torque.
